On November 14, 2023, the final of the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest 2023 was successfully held in Xiamen, China. The contest was organized by the Ministry of Industry and InformationTechnology and the People's Government of Fujian Province, and hosted by the BRICS Partnership for New Industrial Revolution Innovation Base, the International Economic and Technological Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. The contest was enthusiastically participated by enterprises, colleges and individuals, and a total of 1,346 projects were received, among which 432 participated in the industrial interconnection track, 425 participated in the intelligent manufacturing track, and 489 participated in the green recycling track, and a number of outstanding projects and excellent organizational units emerged. After the expert preliminary evaluation, final defense, expert discussion and the organizing committee review, the final selection of 33 projects won the first, second and third prizes and the Rising Star Award, 57 projects won the excellent project award, and 4 excellent organization awards.
After fierce competition with domestic and foreign projects, our project "High Value industrial Chain based on Comprehensive utilization of forestry resources" won the Rising Star Prize of this BRICS Industrial Innovation Competition on the "Green cycling" track. Aiming at the problems such as prominent resource advantages of eucalyptus, low comprehensive utilization rate of raw materials and poor terminal research and development of Yunnan's characteristic forestry resources, the project team researches and develops plant-derived biopesticides, mosquito repellent for sanitary pesticides and feed additives with eucalyptus leaf extract as the effective component through industry-university-research cooperation. The products have been tested and promoted in Hainan, Yunnan, Jiangxi and other provinces in China, and have gained a good reputation.
