Recently, the 2026 China Innovation Method Competition (Yunnan Division) concluded in Kunming. The project "Development of a Eucalyptol Microcapsule Emulsion with a Fast-Release Phase and a Slow-Release Phase Based on TRIZ Theory," submitted by Yunnan Summit, stood out from 274 sci-tech innovation projects across the province and won the second prize in the competition.
The competition was co-hosted by the Yunnan Provincial Association for Science and Technology and the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, with the theme of "Deepening Innovation Methods, Pooling Strength for New-Quality Development." It is an important event in the province's sci-tech innovation field, and the winning projects represent a relatively high level of Yunnan's application of innovation methods and transformation of achievements.
Eucalyptol is an active ingredient of natural plant-derived pesticides. It has a broad insecticidal spectrum and is not prone to inducing pest resistance, but it is volatile and has a short duration of efficacy. After microencapsulation, it often faces the problem of "slow release without fast action." Yunnan Summit introduced TRIZ innovation theory and designed eucalyptol into a "fast-release phase + slow-release phase" dual-phase release system, achieving rapid initial action and long-lasting subsequent prevention and control. This technology increased the product's cumulative release rate at 2 hours by about 3 times and its release rate at 72 hours by more than 10%, while maintaining a duration of efficacy of more than 30 days, effectively overcoming the bottleneck of traditional microcapsules' "slow release without fast action."
This award not only demonstrates Yunnan Summit's technical strength in the innovative research and development of plant-derived pesticides, but also injects new momentum into the industrialization, application, and market promotion of this achievement.
